"Fallout Rituals"

EEEEEYAAAIIEEE! Your tolerance for ball-breaking falsetto shrieks will be put to the test with "Fallout Rituals". For me, it got to be annoying after a while and put a bit of a damper on what was otherwise a stinging assault of retro speed metal courtesy of Seax.

The line between thrash and speed metal is razor thin but I think these guys come down firmly on the speed metal side of it. Naturally this is fast and furious but the riffing here owes a bit more to Maiden and Priest than the sometimes punkish buzzsaw of pure thrash. The falsetto yelps and shrieks were also a defining characteristic of early 80's speed metal and those Seax certainly has. This is a band that worships Exciter, Agent Steel, early Destruction and Onslaught circa "The Force". No mid paced anthems or ballads here, this is nitro fueled stuff. They have sure nailed that distinctive early 80's production...this sounds so true, it will bring tears to your eyes. Pick any track here..."Killed By Speed", "Interceptor", "Feed The Reaper", "Legions Arise"...and you get hit with that Priest/Maiden dialed up to 1000 mph sound that is guaranteed to wreck necks.

It's a shame that Carmine Blades goes so overboard on those yelpy shrieks. Man, you are trying too hard. We get it, we know your influences...you don't have to hammer it into us every second. Ease back a bit and I think the music will be better for it.

Other than that, Seax continue their reign as one of the most authentic speed dealing bands in the States with "Fallout Rituals".
