THREE DEAD FINGERS
“Breed of the Devil”
THREE DEAD FINGERS is a Swedish band boasting an average age of somewhere around 14.
They have some fresh faced young thrashers in Sweden! Their playing
abilities are pretty strong for such a band, assuming that the
producer didn’t extensively rework the album, but their songwriting
skills could definitely use some work.
The lads play an odd
combination of old school thrash ala Metallica, melodic death metal
reminiscent of the cult band DESULTORY and a sprinkling of modern
radio metal like DISTURBED. It’s an awkward mix that has some
strong moments and an equal amount of forgettable or cringeable ones.
A lot of the tracks here try to incorporate all those styles. “Into
The Bloodbath”, “A Virus Called Life” and “Eveline” are
fairly pleasing to hear. The vocals range from harsh rasps to
powerful death grunts to a truly annoying clean vocal that sounds
exactly like what it is...a junior high kid trying to do melodic but
“tough” singing. Those cleans ruin a lot of tracks like “House
of the Careless” and the very tacky “Goodbye”.
Nothing here is
gonna make a lasting mark in your memory, but it could have been a
lot worse. One things is for certain regarding TDF...there’s time,
there’s plenty of time.
