Who or what is ERINYES, you ask? Let's find out. Research reveals that they are the Greek spirits of vengeance also known as The Furies, who took the form of winged women who delivered agonizing torment to sinners. So not exactly the glee club. They are a good source of inspiration for this shadowy outfit, who deliver black metal of the most twisted and nefarious kind.

Dark, dark and more dark is the best way to describe this bunch. Very reminiscent of the avant-garde terror of bands like DEATHSPELL OMEGA and older BLUT AUS NORD, they attack with relentlessly distorted and yet weirdly melodic ferocity. Not an easy listening band, but not designed to be that way. Like the bands mentioned above, this is a challenge to the listener. How much can you take? It depends on your state of mind. This is not a record for people who have been having suicidal or violent thoughts. There are six tracks total here but not one ray of light to be found.

The CULT reaches its frenzied climax on "Nothing Is Owed To The Void" and "Nihil Sacrum Est", where screams, roars and proclamations of universal depression reach their peak while the music veers from ravaging dissonant speed to lightless gloomy ambiance. A difficult record to process, but CULT OF ERINYES, who have been around for a while, show they are not just a knockoff of DEATHSPELL OMEGA but rather brothers in spirit.
